2021 Contest winner, Evan Whitmeyer

 

Just some advanced notice that the deadline for submitting your speeches for the Jody Deering Nyquist Speech Contest in on April 22nd, 2022.

After the April 22nd deadline, Submitted speeches will go through preliminary judging rounds, guided by the Center director. Those not advancing will be notified via email. The top six speeches will then be judged by an assembled panel of speech experts. The winners will be notified of their placing by June.

1st place winner will receive $250

2nd place winner will receive $200

3rd place winner will receive   $150

4th – 6th place winners will receive $100 each

 

Guidelines.

  1. Topic. The speech should address the 2022 theme, which will be announced in February 2022.
  2. Nature. The speech should advance clear claims with solid support. See the past winners below for a sense of the type of speeches that have done well in the past.
  3. Time. Your speech should run between 5 and 10 minutes. Speeches over 10 minutes will not be considered.

4. Submissions are due by 11:59 pm on April 22, 2022.
